Canvas and Panama fabrics are firmly woven in plain weave and are suitable for many applications. Our representatives of this fabric family are mostly produced in sustainable organic quality and in Western Europe. Depending on their weight, they are suitable for robust outerwear, for the production of accessories such as bags and backpacks, as a canvas for painting or as a hard-wearing upholstery fabric, beanbag as well as (blackout) curtain. For the latter, our organic panamas are particularly suitable, some are extra-wide.

Where "canvas" used to mean "sailcloth", this material is a real all-rounder for all textile projects that require durable fabric. Equally suitable are so-called Panama weaves, in which several warp and weft threads woven in parallel ensure a stable weave pattern. Its name is derived from the weave pattern used in South American hats.
Smooth and firm to the touch, it is advisable to use a jeans needle for the sewing machine (strength 90 to 110) for stronger variants, also stable sewing thread should be used.
Heavyweight fabrics such as canvas and panama do not tolerate strenuous washing well, so wash rather in the lower temperature range, spin with fewer revolutions and do not dry in the dryer.
