Ramie is also a stem fiber made from the bast of the Boehmeria, a nettle-like tropical plant.
The fiber is fine, long-fibered and has a beautiful, soft sheen. It has similar properties to linen, it is boil-proof and durable, and unfortunately it is still far too little used.
