Wild Silks

Tussah silk

Wild silk is made from the cocoons of tussah silk spiders, the natural colour variations range from beige to dark brown.
Tussah silk is usually obtained from the cocoons of hatched oak silk moths (Antheraea yamamai), so the individual threads are comparatively short and are first woven together. This creates the lively relief of these silk fabrics.
