Description
The dupioni silk (also known as shantung) is characterised by its mostly iridescent sheen, a light stand and the typical flamed weave, which is created by irregularities in the cocoon and fine thickenings (flames) in the yarn.
The differently coloured warp and weft threads in some colours create fascinating interactions with the light. Depending on the viewing angle, one or the other colour dominates, as if the fabric were transforming.
Dupion is a good choice for festive dresses, elegant blouses, skirts or bridal wear - in the interior, it wants to unfold its effect as an elegant curtain or decorative cushion. A fine cotton lining gives the fabric a sumptuous, heavy drape and protects the colour and fibres.
Please take into account the narrow fabric width typical of dupioni silk when selecting the fabric.
