Tencel-Modal-Jersey
TENCEL™ modal fibres offer excellent moisture and temperature regulation.
As high-quality, finely knitted fabrics, they are soft and comfortable against the skin. Their heavy, flowing drape, brilliant colours and stretch make them ideal for dresses, skirts, T-shirts, tops, underwear and leggings, whilst a small amount of elastane provides additional comfort and shape retention.
Similar in properties and appearance to their exclusive sister, real silk, they are easier to care for and more affordable – a little everyday luxury.
TENCEL™ is a brand of Lenzing AG
Cellulose fibres were invented and produced as an affordable silk substitute as early as the late 19th century. Over time, production—which placed a strain on both people and nature—was relocated far away to the Far East due to increasing environmental regulations in the West, and what returned were cheap goods that often fell apart after just a few washes.
It was only after the entire process had been rethought, closed-loop water systems developed and the chemicals used made more environmentally friendly that the fibre made a comeback, more beautiful and better than ever. Today, it is produced in Austria by the company Lenzing as Lyocell or modal fibre under the licensed brand name TENCEL™. The fibre is made from natural, renewable and certified raw materials (wood), is biodegradable and has only a low static charge.
